The TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card is one of the best travel credit cards in Canada. It may not be the first choice for everyone, but TD has a strong partnership with Expedia for many travel benefits.

This travel credit card is a great choice for flexible travellers who are not tied to one airline, travel often, and want a variety of ways to redeem points.

With the TD Rewards Program, you can earn TD Points (which never expire) on everyday and Expedia purchases.

You’ll earn:

  • 3 TD Points for every $1 spent
  • 9 TD Points for every $1 spent when you book travel online through Expedia for TD
  • 50% more TD Points and Stars at Starbucks if you link your TD card with Starbucks Rewards

You can redeem your TD Points on Expedia travel purchases (as discussed below), Amazon.ca, online shopping through TDRewards.com, or use your points to help pay down your credit card balance.

Travel Insurance and Benefits

Travel medical insurance – get up to $1 million in coverage for the first 21 days of your trip.

Trip interruption/cancellation insurance – get up to $1,500 in coverage per person (maximum $5,000) for cancellations and up to $5,000 in coverage per person (maximum $25,000) for interruptions.

Common carrier travel accident insurance – get up to $500,000 in coverage for losses when travelling on a train, plane, bus, etc.

Delayed or lost baggage insurance – get up to $1,000 in coverage per person for the purchase of essentials if your baggage is lost, delayed for 6 hours, or more.

You also get an annual discount on a Priority Pass membership for access to VIP airport lounges.

Automotive Benefits

The TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card car rental insurance is another huge benefit.

You’ll get auto rental collision and loss damage coverage for up to 48 days, and you can save a minimum of 10% off the lowest base rates for Avis and Budget Rent A Car rentals.

Security and Other Benefits

With the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card, you automatically get access to Purchase Security and Extended Warranty Protection, which covers eligible items if they are damaged or stolen within 90 days post-purchase.

You may also get double the warranty for up to 12 additional months. 

You can also opt-in for TD Fraud Alerts, which will alert you if suspicious activity is seen on your account. You may also get an emergency cash advance for up to $5,000, depending on your available credit limit.

Downsides of the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card

The TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card Canada has a high minimum annual income requirement for you to be eligible to apply for this card.

You must earn at least $60,000 personal or $100,000 household annual income.

This credit card does not give you access to airport lounges; they only offer a discount on a Priority Pass membership which may not be worth it for everyone.

There are also TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card foreign transaction fees, which will impact your shopping in a foreign currency.

  • Be a permanent Canadian resident
  • Be the age of majority in your province or territory
  • Confirm that you have an annual personal income of at least $60,000 or a household income of at least $100,000
  • Have a valid email address

TD Rewards Program and How To Redeem TD Points

With the TD Rewards Program, you earn points on everyday purchases and can redeem them for travel and other benefits.

Expedia for TD – when you book your travel with your TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card, you can redeem points towards online Expedia travel purchases through ExpediaForTD.com that will pay for part or all of your trip.

Or, you could book travel with any other provider and redeem TD Points towards that purchase within 90 days after the purchase date.

Amazon.ca – enroll your TD credit card to use Shop with Points to redeem some or all of your points on your purchase.

You can also use your TD Points to help pay your credit card balance through TDRewards.com, EasyWeb, or the TD app, or shop online with TDRewards.com to get brand-name merchandise.

The TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card is one of the best credit cards for travel rewards. It may be worth it if you travel often, are not tied to one particular airline, and want flexible options for redeeming points.

There are many ways to earn and redeem points, especially through Expedia. You can redeem your points on multiple airlines, hotels, and rental car bookings, and you get a plethora of travel insurance benefits, including up to $1 million in medical insurance for the first 21 days of your trip.

However, you need to ensure you meet the minimum annual income requirement before you apply.
