Pension Payment Dates in Canada for September 2023

Learn about pension payment dates for Old Age Security (OAS), the Canada Pension Plan (CPP), and public and Quebec pension plans in 2023.

We also include payment dates for some provincial teachers’ retirement funds. These dates reflect when you can expect direct deposits to reach your bank account.

OAS Payment Dates

The OAS is a monthly benefit paid to eligible retirees, starting at age 65. OAS payment dates in 2023 fall on:

  • May 29, 2023
  • June 28, 2023
  • July 27, 2023

The maximum monthly OAS benefit is $691 for ages 65 to 74 and $760.10 for ages 75 and older.

Canada Pension Payment Dates

The CPP retirement pension is paid monthly to seniors who contributed to the plan during their working years.

The minimum age to collect CPP is 60 years old.

CPP payment dates in 2023 fall on:

The maximum monthly CPP benefit is $1,306.57, while the average paid out is $811.21.

CPP pensions who are not set up for direct deposit payments will receive a cheque in the mail during the last 3 business days of each month.

Public Service Pension Plan Payment Dates (Provincial)

The Public Service Pension Plan (PSPP) is a defined benefit pension plan for employees of the Government of Alberta and its agencies, boards, and commissions, and other participating public bodies since 1947.

It has transfer agreements with many other provincial sector pension plans. Other Canadian provinces have similar public service pension plans.

PSPP payment dates in 2023 are on the second last banking day of each month, except for December.
