Checkout 51: Earn Cash Back, $5 Sign Up Bonus, and $5 Referrals

Updated:

Fact Checked

Checkout 51 is one of the most popular grocery receipt cash back apps available in Canada and the United States.

It used to have a $5 sign-up bonus; however, the referral program was paused last year.

The Checkout 51 app is similar to free cash back apps like Ibotta and Caddle. These apps can easily save you hundreds of dollars every year!

Read our complete review of Checkout 51.

For cash back apps offering a welcome bonus, try Rakuten, Drop App, Caddle, and Ampli.

For up to 5% cash back when you spend cash (debit) and a $20 sign-up bonus, check out the Neo Money card and app.

How Checkout 51 Works

Checkout 51 is easy to use. Even better, it is a free cash back app.

To start:

  • Download the App and sign-up
  • Check what offers are available for the week and add items you wish to buy to your shopping list
  • Purchase the items at any store of your choice (unless otherwise stated)
  • Upload your receipt using the app and the camera on your phone
  • Earn cash back

Cash back earned is credited to your account within hours, and you can cash out when your balance reaches $20.

New grocery offers go live every Thursday at 12 a.m. in your timezone and expire on Wednesday of the following week at 11:59 p.m.

Checkout 51 deals are available to residents of Canada, and the U.S. Receipts must be in English, French, or Spanish.

Is Checkout 51 Worth It?

Yes, it can be. Since joining the app, I have earned $244 without any stress.

Since you can earn cash back in combination with other coupon apps and discounts, I also upload the same receipts to my Caddle account when applicable. This translates into extra cash back.

Finally, I use a cash back credit card to pay for my purchases and to max out my cash back earnings.
