What is TELUS Online Security?

TELUS Online Security is a powerful cybersecurity solution provided by TELUS and powered by NortonTM, a global leader in cybersecurity.

TELUS Online Security helps protect you from identity theft and other cybercrimes that cost Canadians over $530 million in 2022.

Though services like TELUS Online Security greatly reduce the risks, there’s no foolproof defence against online fraud. Hence, if you fall victim, TELUS Online Security offers support from dedicated experienced specialists, as well as Identity Theft Reimbursement Coverage6 for related expenses of up to $1 million, depending on your plan.

How Does TELUS Online Security Work?

TELUS Online Security helps you prevent, detect, and recover from cyber threats. Let’s dive into how it works.

Prevention

Reduce your risk of hackers getting your personal information through a combination of:

  • Device Security for real-time protection for your PCs, Macs, smartphones, or tablets against ransomware, viruses, spyware, malware, and other online threats.
  • Secure VPN encrypts your personal information and secures your connection with a single click each time you go online, even with public Wi-Fi.
  • Password manager provides the tools you need to create, store, and manage every password safely and securely with your very own encrypted, cloud-based vault.

These tools help you avoid malicious links and websites, browse the web anonymously with an encrypted connection, and assist you in generating stronger passwords without losing track of them.

Detection

TELUS Online Security detects potential risks to your personal and financial data by monitoring the dark web, and advanced plans also include monitoring for social media platforms[1], and your bank and credit accounts[2]. Receive notifications whenever your personal information is found on the dark web or if suspicious activity is detected, such as a loan application being opened in your name, so you can take action to protect your accounts.

Recovery

In the unfortunate case that you are a victim of identity theft, you can have peace of mind knowing you have access to 24/7 live support.

A dedicated specialist will handle your case, assisting you from beginning to end. Depending on your TELUS Online Security plan, you’ll have up to $1 million in coverage* for related expenses to help resolve your case, including the cost of lawyers, experts, applications, court filings, notarizations, replacement ID cards, lost wages, and more. Plus, if you ever lose your wallet containing your identification and financial cards, you’ll be assisted by professionals in promptly cancelling and replacing your cards.

Note: The extent of cybersecurity protection may vary depending on your plan. For example, TELUS Online Security Standard includes up to $25,000 in Identity Theft Reimbursement Coverage, while the Ultimate plan includes $1 million.

Alternative Plans

Basic

For those who want a cheaper cybersecurity solution, TELUS Online Security offers the Basic plan for only $8 monthly[1]. With this plan, you can protect up to 2 devices and provide a secure VPN with bank-grade encryption for both of them.

However, since this plan does not include identity theft restoration and reimbursement coverage, TELUS recommends considering at least the Standard plan for greater end-to-end protection.

Build Your Bundle

TELUS “Build Your Bundle” program allows you to bundle TELUS Online Security with other Home Solutions products. As the name suggests, this program allows you to build your own plan, giving you a choice to bundle any or all of the following:

  • Internet
  • Optik TV
  • Home Security
  • Online Security
  • Home Phone

How much you pay for the bundle depends on your chosen services and contract length. Remember, though, that existing TELUS Mobility or Koodo customers can receive up to a $20/monthly discount when building their bundles.

Note: Bundle limitations apply to some provinces.
