What is Triangle Select?

As Canadian Tire’s revamped rewards program, Triangle Select offers increased earning rates and numerous benefits to members who purchase eligible items from stores owned by Canadian Tire.

Triangle Select is a subscription-based upgrade of Triangle Rewards, Canadian Tire’s loyalty program. Rewards are in the form of electronic CT money.

Participating stores include:

  • Canadian Tire
  • SportChek
  • Mark’s/L’Équipeur
  • Party City
  • Hockey Experts
  • Pro Hockey Life
  • Sports Experts

How Does Triangle Select Work?

Once you have signed up for Triangle Select, you can earn CT money through stackable bonus rewards on eligible purchases at participating stores.

You can stack your Triangle Rewards bonus CT money on top of existing bonuses, weekly personalized offers, flyer bonuses, Triangle credit card bonuses, Triangle Rewards Bonus Day bonuses, and others.

Below are the three ways that Triangle Select will earn you rewards.

In-Store CT Money Bonus Offers

The following bonus offers will be your means to earn rewards through in-store purchases at participating stores and brands.

  • 10x Everyday In-Store Bonus

Earn 10x bonus CT money when you make in-store eligible purchases at Canadian Tire, Mark’s, Sport Chek, Party City and L’Équipeur.

  • 20x In-Store Brand Boost

Earn 20x bonus CT money when you purchase eligible items from 20 select brands in-store at Canadian Tire, Mark’s, Sport Chek, Party City and L’Équipeur.

  • 20x Annual In-Store Top Up

At the end of your Triangle Select membership year, earn 20x bonus CT money on your biggest eligible in-store purchase at Canadian Tire, Mark’s, Sport Chek, Party City and L’Équipeur.

The 10x Everyday In-Store Bonus, 20x In-Store Brand Boost, and 20x Annual In-Store Top Up promos are not valid on ship-to-home, curbside or in-store pick-up orders.

Exclusive Online Shopping Perks

Aside from the in-store bonus offers, you also enjoy exclusive perks from your online purchases:

  • For the first 5 Canadian Tire purchases shipped to your home, your shipping fees (up to $12 per order) will be reimbursed in CT money (before taxes).
  • When your online purchases from Sport Chek, Mark’s and L’Équipeur total over $50 (before taxes), your shipping fee (up to $20 per order) will be waived.

Special Offer from Crave

Members who sign up for Triangle Select are also entitled to a limited-time offer from the streaming service, Crave.

After you confirm your Triangle Select subscription via email, Canadian Tire will send you a single-use promo code.

The promo code is valid toward 6 months of consecutive access to Crave Total, which allows up to 4 simultaneous streams. Crave typically costs $20 per month.

Pros and Cons of Triangle Select

Pros:

  • Multiple opportunities to earn rewards and bonuses
  • $50 welcome gift card
  • Enhanced earn rates
  • Free 6-month Crave streaming service subscription
  • The welcome gift and numerous rewards quickly pay for the $89 subscription cost.
  • Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time.
  • Triangle Rewards has no annual fee and requires no specific income.

Cons:

  • You have to be a Triangle Rewards member first.
  • Only earns CT money
  • Most purchases have to be in-store to earn the bonuses.
  • The subscription fee is non-refundable.
  • Cancellation is only effective at the end of your subscription.

Triangle Select Benefits

Here is a summarized list of the Triangle Select benefits you will enjoy as a member:

  • $50 worth of welcome gift card
  • 10x the rewards for almost all in-store purchases at participating stores
  • 20x the rewards for participating in-store brands
  • 20x annual in-store top-up on your biggest eligible purchase
  • Waived shipping fees on all eligible online purchases
  • Reimbursed shipping fees in CT money on eligible purchases

Triangle Select Welcome Gift

When you sign up, you will get a Triangle Select welcome gift valued at $50.

Choose your welcome gift from any of the following:

  • $50 gift card from Canadian Tire (redeemable in-store)
  • $50 Sport Chek e-Promo Card (redeemable on footwear, in-store or online)
  • $50 Mark’s e-Promo Card (redeemable on denim, in-store or online)
  • $50 online coupon code at hellyhansen.com (one-time use, minimum $50 purchase)

Is Triangle Select Worth It?

If you consistently shop at Triangle Rewards partner stores, subscribing to Triangle Select can be worth it.

I think the immediate significant benefit that Triangle Select offers is the enhanced earning rate. The Triangle Select standard base earn rate is 0.4%.

When you earn 10x the rewards, that is 4% back in CT money. With the 20x rewards, you have an earn rate of 8% in CT money.

To get the most benefits, purchase eligible items in-store instead of having them shipped. With online purchases, you only get savings on shipping costs.

Additionally, you get 6 months of Crave, which typically costs $20 per month. This translates to an instant value of $120.

Plus, when you purchase a Triangle Select subscription, you get a $50 welcome gift card. So, you only pay $39 when you subscribe to Triangle Select.

Also, if you plan to make a big-ticket purchase, the annual top-off can reward you with enough CT money to make the $89 subscription fee worth it.

Essentially, you get a lot more than what you pay for the annual subscription fee.

On the other hand, Triangle Select may not give you significant benefits if you are not a frequent in-store shopper at Canadian Tire.
