How Ownr Works

After signing up, you can use the platform to confirm that your preferred business name is available.

You can conduct up to 30 unique business name searches on Ownr. When you have confirmed your business name, they help you reserve it and send off your application and relevant documents for processing.

In Ontario and Alberta, you can get your Sole Proprietorship Master Business License or Trade name Declaration, and business registration number within one business day by email.

In British Columbia, business name reviews by the BC Registry take longer, however, once approved, your Statement of Registration Sole Proprietorship document takes one business day to process.

For a Business Incorporation, the process involved on the backend is a bit more complicated, however, Ownr does the work.

In Ontario and Alberta, it takes a total of two business days to process your business name search (NUANS report) and Articles of Incorporation. You also receive your corporate formation documents by email.

The processing time for a Provincial Corporation in British Columbia is similar to that of a Sole Proprietorship business.

Ownr can also help you to incorporate a business federally in the province of Ontario.

If you have questions while registering your business, they offer phone and chat support from Monday to Friday between the hours of 9am and 5pm EST.

Is Ownr Safe?

Ownr is backed by the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), Canada’s largest bank by market capitalization.

While the company is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB), it holds an A+ rating on the platform. On its Facebook page, Ownr has a 3/5 rating from 24 reviews.

Based on publicly available information, I’d say that Ownr is a legitimate business.

Is Ownr Worth It?

Ownr is worth it if you want to easily register your business, avoid the hassle and save on the costs.

Sole proprietorship registrations start at $89 up to $120.50 plus tax depending on your province. These fees include government levies.

Provincial incorporation through Ownr costs $594 to $700.50 plus tax and also includes government fees.

Compared to a cost of up to $1,800 for incorporating your business using a lawyer, you can potentially save hundreds of dollars.

Ownr also offers cash back opportunities and access to perks that can help you get your business up and running quickly.

Overall, my review of this service is positive and you can get started with a $50 discount here.
