A Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) guarantees your principal and provides a guaranteed interest on your deposit.

You can purchase GICs starting at $100 and for terms ranging from 1 to 5 years.

These GICs can be held in a general (non-registered) account, or you could invest using a TFSA or RRSP account.
