Formerly known as Scene, the Scene+ rewards program is a loyalty program by Scotiabank and Cineplex, where you can earn and redeem points for movies, shopping, entertainment, dining, and more.

If you have a Scotiabank Scene+ credit or debit card, you can earn up to 6x the number of points.

What is the Scene+ Rewards Program?

The Scene+ rewards program is a partnership between Scotiabank and Cineplex, which allows members to earn Scene+ points on purchases using a Scotiabank debit or credit card and at Cineplex locations.

The program was launched in 2007. Initially, Scene members could earn points that could be spent on free movies at 1,000+ points per movie. They could also get a 10% discount on concession stand purchases.

Now, Scene members can use Scotiabank debit or credit cards to earn Scene+ points on everyday purchases, as well as redeem them for discounts at Cineplex locations and participating retailers and restaurants.

How to Earn Scene+ Points

You can earn and redeem Scene+ points with the participating partners below. These are the base earn rates – you will generally earn more using a Scotiabank Scene+ debit or credit card.

Groceries

You can earn points at the following participating grocery stores:

  • Sobeys
  • Safeway
  • Foodland and participating Co-ops
  • FreshCo
  • Thrifty Foods
  • IGA
  • Rachelle Bery
  • Les Marches Tradition
  • Voila by Sobeys, Safeway, and IGA

You get member-exclusive pricing on select products each week, and you can earn points through personalized offers, flyer and in-store events, and weekly product offers.

Also, earn 1 Scene+ point for every $1 spent on Needs Convenience.

Cineplex

At over 160 Cineplex locations across Canada, you can earn 5 points for every $1 spent on movie and entertainment purchases, and at the Cineplex store.

Travel

When booking through Scene Plus Travel rewards (powered by Expedia), earn 3 points for every $1 spent on hotel and car rentals. You can also earn Scene+ points on eligible travel purchases.

Cash Back

Earn cash back in the form of Scene+ points when shopping online at participating stores with Scene+ Rakuten, where you can earn up to 20% more cash back in points.

Restaurants

At the following restaurants, you earn 1 point for every $3 spent on dine-in or take-out purchases:

How to Redeem Scotia Scene+ Rewards

100 Scene+ points is equivalent to $1. You can generally redeem Scene+ points for $1, $5, or $10 off at participating retailers, with some exceptions. Check sceneplus.ca for more information.

Redeem 500 points for $5 towards snacks and drinks at Cineplex, and redeem 100 points for $1 off purchases at the Cineplex Store.

Travel

When you book through Scene+ Travel (powered by Expedia), you can redeem 100 points for every $1 off your next vacation. If you don’t have enough points to cover the full cost, you can pay with a mix of points and cash.

Cash Back

You can redeem points for anything at the Scene+ Apple and Best Buy online stores. You can also redeem for gift cards from over 60 retailers.
