Unlike other streaming platforms, Disney Plus has no basic, standard, or premium tier plan. It’s either you buy the standard plan alone or top it up with some upgrades.

You can choose a monthly subscription or the annual plan that gives you ten months for the price of 12 and saves you money. The Disney Plus price depends on your subscription plan – monthly plan, annual plan, or Disney+ Premier Access, all cancellable at any time.

Disney Plus Canada Monthly Plan: If you want to sign up for Disney Plus Canada but want to avoid committing long-term, try the monthly plan that costs $11.99 (plus taxes). But there isn’t any discount on the subscription plan.

Disney Plus Canada Annual Plan: Compared to the monthly plan, the yearly Disney Plus subscription is quite a bargain. You will pay the subscription yearly at $119.99 (plus taxes), saving almost $24 a year.

Disney Premier Access Plan: To upgrade from the standard subscription, you may pay an additional $34.99 on top of your existing Disney Plus membership for the Disney Premier Access package and see newly-released movies before they hit theatres in the comfort of your home.

All plans include an all-access pass to Disney Plus shows, ad-free streaming, unlimited downloads, 4K UHD and HDR viewing, seven profiles per account, concurrent streaming up to 4 screens, and parental controls for kids.

Is There a Disney Plus Canada Free Trial?

Sadly, there is no Disney Plus free trial available in Canada, and there has not been for some time, so you can’t stream for free. Whether for seven days, 30 days, or three months, testing out the streaming platform for a short period is impossible.

Right now, the only way to watch content on Disney Plus is to pay a monthly or yearly membership fee. However, keep an eye out for surprise discounts and sales such as the Disney Plus Day offers, which offer temporarily lower subscription fees for a specific time frame.

Disney Plus used to offer new subscribers in Canada a 7-day free trial, but that stopped in June 2020. An official Disney spokesperson explained to CNET that the decision to end the free trial was part of the company’s experimentation with new marketing methods, given that Disney Plus is expected to be a competitive standalone entertainment option at an affordable price.

Will There Be a Disney Plus Canada Price Increase?

There has yet to be an announcement on the Disney Plus Canada price increase. The cost remains at $11.99 per month.

Although Disney plans to introduce ad-supported tier plans worldwide, no prices and date have yet been announced for the international roll-out except in the United States, where ad-free streaming is now available at $10.99 per month.

The most recent price increase in Canadian Disney Plus occurred in 2021, from $8.99 to the current price of $11.99 due to the addition of the Star brand on the platform.

Disney Plus Alternatives in Canada

1. Amazon Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video is a streaming platform with over 25,000 popular movies and shows available online and offline. These include Amazon originals like Little Fires Everywhere and The Boys, top sports shows like ONE Championship and Overtime Elite, and live events.

If you’re an Amazon Prime Video subscriber, you can watch even more if you subscribe to their premium and specialty channels like Discovery+, STACKTV, Paramount+, Starz, AMC, Hayu, and so much more. For non-members, they have the Prime Video Store, where you can easily rent or buy movies.

Unlike Disney Plus, Amazon Prime Video offers a free trial for 30 days and then charges you $9.99 (plus taxes) monthly or $99 annually, saving $20.88 per year, cancellable at any time. Prime membership is offered to students for a 6-month free trial, followed by monthly payments of $4.99. (plus taxes).

You’ll also enjoy watching up to 3 screens simultaneously and downloading the shows on almost all devices. Once a Prime member, you can also access Amazon Shopping, Amazon Music, and Prime Reading at no additional cost.

2. Netflix

Netflix’s massive library of award-winning films, television series, animation, documentaries, and original shows has made it one of the world’s most popular online streaming services.

Netflix’s ad-free plans also allow for unrestricted offline downloading, so you may watch as many episodes as you like whenever you like.

Depending on which of Netflix Canada’s four subscription tiers (basic with ads, basic, standard, and premium) you’re interested in, the monthly cost would range from $5.99 to $20.99. Differences in video quality, resolution, and the ability to make offline downloads are among the features’ many variations.

The user interfaces of both Disney Plus and Netflix are excellent. On Netflix, shows are categorized by genre, but on Disney Plus, they are sorted by popular entertainment franchises like Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, and more.

Unfortunately, Netflix does not provide yearly subscriptions like Disney Plus, so there’s no opportunity to save money.

3. YouTube TV

An alternative to traditional cable television is YouTube TV, an American online streaming service. It offers over 90 major TV networks on the platform and a cloud-based DVR. It also gives you access to either live or on-demand entertainment, such as the NBA Finals, NFL Games, and MLB World Series.

Youtube TV costs $64.99 per month to subscribe to. Unfortunately, you can only watch YouTube TV if you reside in the United States. If it is made available in Canada, the corporation will lose significant money due to the license fees.

Another main reason why it is not directly available in Canada is because of the content distribution rules and streaming rights. So, gaining a US IP address will grant you access to the platform.

4. Discovery Plus Canada

Discovery Plus Canada is a subscription streaming service with unlimited access to real-life entertainment. It has over 70,000 episodes of over 2500 shows from popular TV brands like Discovery, Food Network, Animal Planet, Planet Earth, BBC, and exclusive Discovery Plus Originals.

Like Disney Plus, billing starts immediately upon subscription. There are two subscription plans available depending on your budget – with ads and ad-free monthly plans.

The monthly subscription costs you $4.99 (plus taxes), while the ad-free plan costs $6.99 monthly (plus taxes). Canadian military members, in service, reservists, and even veterans, are eligible for special discounts.

5. Apple TV

Apple TV is where you’ll find all of Apple’s quality content, featuring TV episodes and films that have received numerous awards. They cover extensive genres, from comedies to dramas, travel shows, documentaries to talk shows, and even programs intended for younger audiences.

You can watch as many live sports streaming from cable networks and other premium content as your heart desires.

Also, the Apple TV app provides access to hundreds of films that can be purchased or rented. In addition to Disney Plus, Amazon Prime Video, and Crave, you may watch content from other streaming services.

Apple TV gives new users seven days of free service, after which a monthly subscription will cost $8.99. Use your existing Apple ID or register a new one to get started.

6. Crave

Crave is a popular streaming service that offers exclusive access to the Crave Originals library in addition to HBO and HBO Max’s top shows and movies. Also, all the full French-language content is available to you in Canada.

Like Disney Plus, the Crave regular plan offers the highest quality video, allowing for up to four streams simultaneously.

You can join Crave or negotiate the best deal with your current TV service provider. A direct sign-up monthly subscription would cost you $19.99 (plus taxes), whereas a yearly subscription would cost you $199.90 (plus taxes), saving you about $40 annually.

Is Disney Plus Worth It in Canada?

Yes, Disney Plus in Canada is well worth the bucks! Fans of Marvel, Star Wars, or Pixar, as well as viewers of Star Producing series, will find the platform’s price well worth it. A broad selection of series and movies makes it entertaining for audiences of all ages.
