1. TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card

  • Annual fee: $139 (waived in the first year)
  • Bonus offer: 25,000 Aeroplan points
  • Income requirement: $60,000

The TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite is one of the best Aeroplan credit cards in Canada and its welcome offer of 25,000 Aeroplan points and a bonus Buddy Pass (first year) is worth checking out.

You earn:

  • 10,000 points when you make your first purchase
  • An additional 15,000 points when you spend $1,000 within 90 days

The general earn rate for the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite is:

  • Get 1.5 points per $1 spent on grocery, gas, drugstore, and purchases
  • Get 1 point per $1 spent everywhere else

Other Perks: Comprehensive travel insurance, purchase security, extended warranty, rebates on a NEXUS card every 48 months, Air Canada benefits, and car rental discounts. The first-year fee of $139 is waived.

2. American Express Platinum Card

  • Annual fee: $699
  • Bonus offer: Up to 100,000 points
  • Income requirement: None indicated

Obviously, the American Express Platinum Card is a premium Aeroplan credit card.

You can get up to 100,000 bonus Membership Rewards points (1:1 for Aeroplan) as follows:

  • 80,000 points when you spend $6,000 in the first 6 months
  • 20,000 points when you use your card for purchases in month 14-17 of Cardmembership

This card generally gives:

  • 3 points per $1 spent on eligible dining and food delivery in Canada
  • 2 points per $1 spent on eligible travel
  • 1 point for all other purchases
  • $200 in annual travel credit
  • Complimentary airport lounge access
  • Comprehensive travel insurance
  • Purchase protection and extended warranty

The platinum card is a charge card with no predefined credit limit. A 30% APR applies if you do not pay your balance in full each month.


3. TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege Card

  • Bonus offer: 65,000 Aeroplan Miles
  • Income requirement: $200,000

Similar to the Platinum Card from American Express, the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege is a top-rated premium card.

It starts off with a 65,000 Aeroplan points bonus – 20,000 points when you make your first purchase and an additional 45,000 points when you spend $1,000 within 90 days.

The card’s regular earn rate is 1.5 points per $1 spent on grocery, gas, and travel; 2 points per $1 on Air Canada purchases, and 1.25 points per $1 on all other purchases.

  • Bonus offer: 20,000 Aeroplan Points 
  • Income requirement: $60,000

This card starts you off with 10,000 Aeroplan points after your first purchase and an extra 10,000 points when you spend $1,000 or more during the first 4 months. Your annual card fee is waived if you have a CIBC Smart Plus Account.

The CIBC Aeroplan Visa Infinite has the following rewards rate:

  • Earn 1.5 miles per $1 spent on gas, grocery, drug store and purchases
  • Earn 1 mile per $1 spent on everything else

Other Perks: Comprehensive travel insurance, purchase security and extended warranty; and Air Canada benefits.
